Exploring memory, identity, and post-Soviet transformation, his documentary and art photography traces the changing cultural and political landscape of Central Asia. He began as a film photographer at Kyrgyzfilm in 1980 before developing an independent practice, including the acclaimed series Mirages of Communism. His work has been exhibited internationally at venues including the Istanbul Biennial, Sotheby’s London, and the Laura Bulian Gallery in Milan.
