Fotoqrafika, in collaboration with the Azerbaijan Photographers Union, presents its first online exhibition.
Black Gold / Silver Light traces the parallel rise of Azerbaijan’s oil industry and photography from the late 19th century to the present. It reveals not only the transformation of landscape and society, but the visual construction of a modern national identity.
The exhibition is structured as a journey through the synergy of energy and image. It begins with the Era of Discovery in the late 1800s — a raw, experimental period where the first oil wells and the first photographic frames were defining their future. As we move into the early 1900s, the narrative shifts to the Scale and Human Cost of massive industrial expansion, where photography became more intentional, capturing the machinery and the workers who powered it.
During the Soviet Era, the visual language underwent a profound shift toward ideology; oil became a state machine, and photography a tool to glorify labor and industrial heroism. The journey concludes with a look at the Transition to the Present, exploring contemporary reflections on the environmental and social legacies left behind.
These images are more than reflections of the past — they are active documents of how history itself was built.

Qara Qızıl / Gümüşü İşıq
Sənaye yüksəlişi, Vizual yaddaş
Fotoqrafika və Azərbaycan Fotoqrafları Birliyi ilk onlayn sərgi layihəsini təqdim edir.
"Qara Qızıl / Gümüşü İşıq" XIX əsrin sonlarından bu günə qədər Azərbaycanın neft sənayesi ilə fotoqrafiyanın paralel yüksəlişini araşdırır. Sərgi təkcə landşaftın və cəmiyyətin transformasiyasını deyil, müasir milli kimliyin vizual inşasını üzə çıxarır.
Sərgi enerji və təsvirin vəhdətini ardıcıllıqla izləyir. Layihə XIX əsrin sonlarından — hər iki sahənin öz gələcəyini formalaşdırdığı xam və eksperimental Kəşf dövründən başlayır. XX əsrin əvvəllərinə keçid etdikcə, diqqət mərkəzinə kütləvi sənaye artımının Miqyası və İnsan Dəyəri gəlir. Burada fotoqrafiya artıq daha şüurlu xarakter alaraq texnikanı və onu canlandıran insanları hədəf seçir.
Sovet dövründə vizual dilin köklü şəkildə ideologiyaya xidmət etdiyinin, neftin dövlət maşınına, fotoqrafiyanın isə əmək tərənnümünə çevrilməsinin şahidi oluruq. Sərgi, köhnə sistemlərin süqutundan bu günümüzə qədər uzanan ekoloji və sosial irs haqqında müasir düşüncələrlə — Yaddaş qatları ilə yekunlaşır.
Bu görüntülər keçmişin sadəcə inikası deyil — onlar tarixin necə qurulduğunu göstərən canlı sənədlərdir.
